When Vampire Weekend released their new album Contra, fans were struck by the mysterious cover art depicting a woman wearing a Polo shirt. Now seven months after the album arrived that woman, Kristen Kennis, has come forward and is suing the band for $2 million dollars, alleging that she did not give permission for her image to appear on the album cover.
Vampire Weekend originally got approval to use the image from a photographer named Tod Brody, who provided the band with a photo release form that included Kennis' signature. But Kennis insists that the signature is a forgery and has filed suit against the band and Brody in L.A. Superior Court.
