¡Siente la mordedura de Krait! La banda nos presenta su disco debut, `Ángeles`, en el que podemos degustar -intro incluida- 9 cortes de buen metal en castellano. El disco ha sido grabado en los estudios `Fly Killer` de Donostia, mezclado y masterizado en los estudios New Life de Madrid por José Garrido y Daniel Melián. La producción del disco corre a cargo de los propios Krait y por Marco Antonio Blanco `Marquitos`.
Estos donostiarras practican un metal que ha funcionado bastante en España y que tuvo su momento de gloria a finales de los noventa y principio de este siglo en que nos encontramos, cuando grupos como Avalach, Tierra Santa, Saratoga o Dark Moor reactivaron una escena metalera nacional que se encontraba algo estancada.
Estos chicos claramente han bebido de esas aguas, que aún se mantienen vigentes, dejándose llevar por estructuras melódicas llenas de velocidad y creando juegos corales que se convierten en himnos. Incluso se puede intuir una clara influencia de un grupo menos metalero y casi fronterizo con el hard rock más melódico y comercial como fue Sangre Azul.
El disco lo abre una Intro muy acorde al estilo, que recuerda a la música de las bandas sonoras de los videojuegos épicos, pero que pierde la calidad que le corresponde al estar sampleada y tener un sonido demasiado informatizado.
Le sigue el corte Allí estaré, canción que habla de las relaciones humanas, la ayuda, la amistad… unos valores en los que se basa todo el disco. Este tema tiene una buena estructura de heavy metal a doble bombo con pequeños tintes progresivos, en el que la voz de Moi, con grito inicial incluido, presenta un amplio registro y color especial en el timbre de voz que no deja indiferente.
A destacar también las afiladas guitarras de Jon y Emilio que juegan con doblados armónicos y rápidos riffs. El bajo también ha sido grabado por Emilio con un sonido muy metálico que busca su protagonismo; junto a una batería interpretada por Gorka que entrelaza su doble pedal con cambios de compás entre la caja y el bombo. El punto negativo está en los teclados que a veces suenan demasiado altos en relación con el resto de instrumentos y pierden su carácter envolvente.
Un tema que, personalmente, está un poco fuera del disco es El poder del corazónen el cual, sin hacer de menos la composición, parece más una nanao una canción Disney y no pega mucho en este estilo.
Otro de los cortes es Paraíso, con una temática muy desgastada y con una estructura y una ejecución más progresiva, que recuerda un poco al grupo ya desaparecido Ankhara, Aun siendo una canción simple sabe transmitir la letra con una perfecta unión y equilibrio.
Krait ha dejado toda su artillería pesada para el final con el tema que da nombre al disco Ángeles, un bocado mortal de velocidad, contundencia y calidad. En esta canción han conseguido una mayor armonía entre los instrumentos colocándolos cada uno en su sitio y no restando protagonismo a ninguno salvo en los momentos precisos. La voz de Moi llega a su climax con este tema, que cuenta con unos excelentes coros que le dan al este corte el enganche necesario.
El resto de instrumentos también enmarcan sus credenciales, demostrando la calidad que hay en la banda y manifestando que este grupo busca un sitio en la escena española que más tarde o más temprano tendrán que ocupar. Esto demuestra una vez más que para buscar calidad no hace falta salir del país, ni buscar la calidad solo en el idioma anglosajón. Bienvenidos a la Nueva Ola de Metal Latino...
